Active Network Powers Chicago Park District, the Largest Municipal Park Manager in the Nation, with Leading Recreation Management Software
CHICAGO, IL – January 26, 2012 – The Active Network, Inc. (NYSE: ACTV), Clarity Partners and the Chicago Park District have teamed up to launch a new e-commerce recreation management system for facilities throughout more than 8,100 acres of Chicago Park District property. Launched this month, the robust online system manages facility usage for many of the Chicago Park District’s assets including 280 staffed park recreation centers, over 500 baseball fields, 26 indoor and 51 outdoor pools, 71 fitness centers, 22 artificial turf fields, 8 gymnastic centers, and 2 conservatories. Furthermore, the system allows patrons the convenience of browsing park programs and events and registering online, and is expected to allow purchasing of certain permits and reserving rental spaces online later this year.
Chicago is the 3rd largest city in the U.S. and is among 60 of the top 100 cities1 in North America which have deployed Active Network’s ActiveNet® recreation software to manage a range of activities, including program management, facility reservations, league scheduling, payment processing and e-commerce operations. Clarity Partners—which has worked with the City of Chicago since the early 2000s—managed the overall design and launch of the Chicago Park District e-commerce project, including the integration of ActiveNet software. In February, the Chicago Park District is expected to open registration for its spring program session.
“We look forward to working with the ActiveNet system for the efficiency and streamlining benefits it is designed to bring to our program registration process,” said Chicago Park District General Superintendent and CEO Michael Kelly.
The ActiveNet system is designed to support thousands of online transactions per minute, which will be especially important during peak registration periods. Among the many benefits to the Chicago Park District, the ActiveNet system automates financial reporting and reconciliation, and once implemented citywide, is expected to reduce paper-based registrations. The system is also expected to increase customer service levels through the elimination of double bookings and adding greater convenience through online membership sales. The implementation of the comprehensive e-commerce system is further expected to reduce costs, gain efficiency and help increase revenue to the Chicago Park District over time.
“We are tremendously pleased to help the Chicago Park District meet its objective to efficiently manage its facilities while fostering stronger community involvement by its patrons,” said Ram Krishnan, SVP and senior general manager of the Communities division of Active Network. “In addition to the leading edge SaaS technology we deliver to the Chicago Park District and our other ActiveNet customers, we provide a full suite of progressive marketing tools and services to help them engage with their citizens and thereby best serve the public.”
Active Network will demonstrate its recreation software technology at this week’s Illinois Association of Park Districts (IAPD)/Illinois Park & Recreation Association’s (IPRA) Soaring to New Heights Conference at Booth #340.
