Birch Grove Software today announces that its employee monitoring cloud service, ActivTrak, has come out of beta testing and is officially launched. It is already used by more than 15000 business owners and managers, who have stored over 90 million screenshots in the cloud, and every hour 35 thousand new screenshots are added.

Cyberslacking has become a real issue for many businesses today, since almost 90% of employees use the Internet at work for personal purposes – mostly for social networking, online games and online shopping. However, it is neither difficult nor costly to prevent such inappropriate activities with the help of a suitable tracking solution. Many SMB owners and managers prefer cloud services to on-premise software, since they do not take up hard disk space and are more cost-effective.

ActivTrak is one of such cloud services: it offers SMBs an easy and convenient way to increase the staff´s labor efficiency. Its key advantage over the competitors is that anyone can create a free ActivTrak account, which allows tracking of three PCs and storage of up to 1GB data. This feature has made the service quite popular: for example, last year 15 000 ActivTrak users stored more than 90 million screenshots of their employees´ activity, and this number increases by 35 thousand every hour.

How does it work?

The light and invisible ActivTrak agent is installed on the monitored computers and collects data about what employees do on their computers and for how long, making regular screenshots. All collected data is securely kept on Amazon Cloud and can be accessed by the employer at any moment.

The administrator can manage ActivTrak and read the reports through online analytics interface. It consists of five sections: Dashboard, Reports, Screenshots, Alarms and Settings. ActivTrak online analytics interface is designed to be as easy-to-use as possible, so that even a non-techie can easily configure all settings to fit the situation of a specific company.

The service can generate comprehensive productivity reports for any period of time: what applications were used, what documents were open, what websites were visited, what emails were read and written, etc. The statistics is based on applications titlebar information. The service can also send alarms and make screenshots, when objectionable activities are detected. It should be noted that ActivTrak does not collect keystroke data; therefore, personal passwords are not compromised.

Features:
- Free account with up to 1GB storage and monitoring of 3 PCs;
- Comprehensive reports that contain application titlebars, page titles, URLs and screenshots;
- Instant alarms about dangerous activities;
- Invisible installation, instant uninstallation;
- Support for blocking certain websites or applications;
